Gus Walz moved to tears, shares heartfelt moment with father Tim during DNC speech: 'That’s my Dad'

**CHICAGO** — Tim Walz’s son, Gus, captured the hearts of many during the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night as he became visibly emotional while his father accepted the Vice Presidential nomination.

In his heartfelt speech, Tim Walz spoke
about the journey of building their family, including the fertility treatments his wife underwent, before expressing his deep love for his children: "Hope, Gus, and Gwen, you are my entire world." As the camera panned to his family, Gus could be seen wiping away tears and pointing at his father.

Gus, moved by the moment, stood up and clapped while continuing to cry, appearing to say, "That’s my Dad."

The touching scene quickly went viral, receiving widespread acclaim on social media. MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle tweeted, "Forget politics. If you aren't moved seeing 17-year-old Gus Walz in tears watching his Dad walk on stage as the Vice Presidential nominee, then please just move on." Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also showed her support with a tweet, "Team Gus Walz."

Gus Walz, 17, is the younger child of Tim Walz, who is currently a senior at St. Paul Central High School in Minnesota. Last year, Tim Walz shared a proud dad moment on Instagram when Gus passed his driver’s license exam.
